About One Stop Construction
Family-owned. Locally rooted. Built on more than 30 years in the trades, licensed and serving Southern Utah since 2001.
From the Trades to General Contracting
Steve has been on jobsites in Southern Utah for more than three decades. He started the way most builders used to start, working trades. Framing crews, plumbing rough-ins, tile work, drywall, concrete, finish carpentry. By the time he got his Utah contractor's license in 2001 and founded One Stop Construction and Remodeling, he had already done the actual work on hundreds of homes. He wasn't learning the business when he opened it. He'd already learned the business. The license was just the next step.
That background matters because it's increasingly rare. Most general contractors today are project managers who never personally worked the trades they're now hiring out. Steve runs One Stop the old way: with the kind of trade knowledge that lets him spot a problem before it becomes a callback, evaluate a sub's work the day it's done, and step in himself when a crew falls short.
Today One Stop handles everything from bathroom and kitchen remodels to full custom home builds, working out of Washington, Utah and serving St. George, Hurricane, Ivins, Santa Clara, and the broader Southern Utah region.
Our Core Commitments
Six things we hold ourselves to on every job, no exceptions.
Trade Knowledge Behind Every Decision
Steve has personally worked framing, plumbing, electrical, tile, drywall, concrete, roofing, and finish carpentry. When we evaluate a sub's work, we know what we're looking at. When we estimate a job, we know what every phase actually costs.
Quality That Holds Up
We've made subs tear out and redo work that wouldn't have lasted. We've absorbed schedule hits to get something right. We don't sign off on work that won't hold up over time.
Fair & Honest Pricing
Free, detailed estimates. No vague allowances that balloon at the end. If a price changes mid-project, you'll hear about it before we spend the money.
Clear Communication
You'll know what's happening, what's next, and what it costs. When something behind a wall surprises us, you find out the same day.
End-to-End Project Management
We coordinate every phase: site work, foundation, framing, mechanicals, finish work, and final walkthrough. One contract. One point of contact. One responsible name on the project.
Local & Community-Rooted
We live in Southern Utah. We raise our families here. That's why we care about every project bearing our name — it's part of the community we're proud to call home.
What to Ask Before You Hire Any Contractor
If you're getting bids from multiple builders in Southern Utah, here's the question we suggest asking every one of them:
"Which trades have you personally worked, and for how long?"
Most contractors will give you a vague answer. The ones who came up through the trades will give you a specific one. That's the question that separates a project manager with a license from a builder who's actually done the work with his own hands.
Steve will tell you straight: framing, plumbing, tile, drywall, concrete, finish carpentry, roofing. Started in the trades in the early 1990s. Licensed since 2001. He's not a master of every trade, no general contractor is, but he knows the ins and outs of all of them. That's what makes him different from most of what's out there in St. George right now.
We hold a Utah DOPL contractor license (#5679369-5501), carry full insurance on every job, and maintain HomeAdvisor's Screened & Approved and Top Rated distinctions. But the real credential is the work itself.
